It was recorded at Thomaskirche in Leipzig, Germany, where Johann Sebastian Bach served as cantor for the last 27 years of his life and was later buried. For Burning Song, Malone performed on the Bach organ, tuned to Baroque standards. She is joined by cellist Lucy Railton and her husband Stephen O'Malley on guitar, the same trio as on Malone's 2023 album Does Spring Hide Its Joy.”
